CWTG offers web site hosting via DotNetNuke.
DotNetNuke (DNN) is a "Content Management System" that makes it extremely easy for non-technical people to create and maintain their own web sites with no knowledge of HTML, CSS or programming required. All that is needed is a short (1-2 hour) lesson on the software and a web browser. DNN is very widely used, frequently updated and very flexible. DNN sites are "skinnable", which means you can customize the look of a site easily, and change it just as easily. There are literally hundreds of "skins" available for DNN sites (ranging from $20 to $200), or you can have one custom built by us or a number of other designers.
DNN comes standard with a number of modules (see below) for functionality, including an events calendar, blog, announcements, newsletter, image gallery, FAQs, forum and discussion group. There is even a basic storefront module with PayPal integration! If you desire additional functionality not provided by the built-in modules there are modules available for just about anything you can think of, including local weather, maps, PayPal interaction, chat session, reviews, classified ads, surveys, etc. There are even entire applications written for DNN, including a full web store (see Appomattox River Peanuts web site), Customer Resource Management, Help Desk, Event Registration, etc. Additional modules range in price from free to several hundred dollars or more, depending on their size and complexity. Most are less than a hundred. The range of functionality provided by these modules is simply amazing.
In addition, built into DNN are a number of reports so you can see how you web site is doing and how people are using it. Also built in is the ability to have registered users, and to assign those users to any numbers of "roles". User registration can be completely open, completely closed, or verified. Web pages, parts of web pages, or even whole sections of the site can be hidden or displayed based on the role a user is assigned to. It even has optional banner advertising capability built in.
We like to use DNN because of the huge amount of functionality it provides for our customers, and the fact that most of that functionality is already well tested. Our customers like DNN because they can easily maintain their own web sites, and because they can get much of the same functionality as a professionally developed web site at a fraction of the cost (and without waiting for the code to be written).
Here are the URLs for some of our customers who are using DNN for their web sites. I think you'll be surprised at how different they all look.
This web site (we use it ourselves)!
